Margot Dallas

HOME was Inspired by El Bosque Eterno de los Ninos (BEN), Monteverde, Costa Rica

Margot Dallas grew up in a suburb of Chicago and spent her summers in the rolling hills of the Driftless region of Wisconsin. She filled her days immersed in nature, observing flora, fauna and various animal habitats. Margot's passion for nature continued as she studied biology in college and received a Master of Science in Microbiology/Molecular Biology. After graduating college, she pursued a career as a research scientist. Hours curled on the couch, reading to her children is one of her most precious and favorite memories. With inspiration from her mother, concern about the deforestation and pollution of the Earth, along with stories about how the Children's Eternal Forest (BEN) came to be, she channeled her love of science, reading, poetry and nature into her first Children's book, HOME. Collaborating with her artist friend, Barbara Kowalska, they created this visual poem together. In February of 2025, she returned to El Bosque de Los Niños, with her colleagues, to collaborate with the research team there for a reading at Bajo Del Tigre. The Monteverde Friends School also welcomed her for a reading to their students(Facebook posting February 24, 2025). She is currently reading her book to Kindergartners and First Graders at local schools. She remains dedicated to raising awareness of Earth's natural beauty and creatures. She continues to cultivate pollinator gardens to welcome hummingbirds, bees, butterflies, birds and other creatures to her yard, where she can 'Nestle in Nature.'
